Kelly Broedlow Dunagan represents individuals and businesses in a wide range of state and federal court business and trust litigation matters. Her cases often involve contract disputes, shareholder and breach of fiduciary duty disputes as well as claims of fraud, unfair competition and other business torts. She has state and federal court jury trial experience, serving as both first and second chair trial counsel. Her representative clients have included manufacturers, physicians, public entities, public relations agencies, nonprofit entities, developers, restaurateurs, corporations, partners, shareholders, trustees and beneficiaries. In 2009, Ms. Broedlow Dunagan was honored to serve as a volunteer prosecutor for the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
Ms. Broedlow Dunagan’s representative victories include obtaining a $250,000.00 judgment on behalf of plaintiff in three-week bench trial; successfully opposing an Anti-SLAPP motion and successfully defending appeal of ruling on that motion in abuse of process and slander of title action in Orange County Superior Court and the Fourth District Court of Appeal; obtaining temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions to, among other things, freeze assets and to allow for immediate inspection of corporate records; obtaining summary judgment on behalf of public entity involving complex issues of duty of care in negligence and premises liability action; during her service as a volunteer prosecutor, obtaining a guilty verdict in DUI trial where defendant had a .07 BAC.
Ms. Broedlow Dunagan attended The American University in Washington DC, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Communications in 1994. Thereafter, she obtained her Juris Doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2000. While at McGeorge, she earned a concentration in trial advocacy and received Dean’s List honors as well as high honors in International Appellate Advocacy. She also served as a teaching assistant for the International Appellate Advocacy program.
Ms. Broedlow Dunagan has been a member of the State Bar of California since 2000, and is admitted to practice before the California and U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts as well as the United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit.
Kelly is happily married to a ‘silver fox’ who plays cricket, collects vintage motorcycles and shares the same first name. They have four adorable dogs and a big yard where they spend much of their free time throwing a ball or rubber chicken. Kelly loves to entertain, has a passion for interior design and la vie de France. Her most recent personal challenge involves riding lessons.
